The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was said.

 

Mayor Tinnell called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

 

In attendance were Council members Stacey Cline, Bonnie Enlow, Tony Miller, Margaret Moore, Faith Portman, and Trina Summers.

 

Faith Portman made motion to dispense with reading of 1/14/2008 regular meeting minutes. Stacey Cline 2nd. Motion carried 6-0. Stacey Cline made motion to approve minutes as printed. Faith Portman 2nd. Motion carried 6-0. 

 

Mayor Tinnell thanked everyone who attended the Mayor’s Night In on Monday, January 21st, where the City’s first chili cook-off between departments was held. Awards went to Tom Rosselli for Mayor’s Choice and to the Sewer Department for Best Department Overall with Jeff Miller cooking. Mayor Tinnell stated is was a great success and looked forward to next year’s event.

 

Discussion followed on request from David Miles to take over the pump station in Hensley Estates. Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent Mike Schroeder stated he had no problem taking over the pump station with a one year warranty. He stated Mr. Miles had paid for the telemetry on the pump station and it was in good shape. After further discussion the Council feels the lines should be videoed before taking the pump station over. Faith Portman made motion to not accept the pump station until the lines have been videoed. Stacey Cline 2nd. Motion carried 6-0. The City Clerk will send a letter to Mr. Miles to let him know the Council’s decision.

 

There were no reports from the Beautification or Sewer Committees.

 

City Attorney Bill Wilson had first reading of Ordinance 008-(number to be assigned) annexing property owned by Happy Cahoe located on Highway 44 East.

 

Margaret Moore made motion to approve payment of January bills. Tony Miller 2nd. Motion carried 6-0.

 

Planning Commission Appointee Daryl Lee had nothing to report.

 

Board of Adjustments Appointee Duane Price called to report there was nothing new for Shepherdsville at this time.

 

City Attorney Wilson reported he had gotten the signed lease back today from the State on the old police department building. He also stated that a decision needed to be made on the insurance tax issue before the end of February.

 

Code Enforcement Officer Mac McAuliffe reported that he had received a complaint about the banners hanging on the Kroger sign making it hard for people to turn out of the shopping center. He stated our current sign ordinance does not cover this and would like to revisit the Ordinance making it more enforceable in some areas. Mac also reported that the bill submitted for clean up of the old gas station on Highway 61 in the amount of $1037.50 had been paid.

 

Councilwoman Trina Summers asked about the cars the fire department had surplused at the last meeting. She asked if the City was planning an auction or sale of all the City’s surplused items. Mayor Tinnell stated he would like all City departments to start making a list of all items that need to be surplused and he would like to have an auction in early spring. Councilwoman Summers asked for an update on all road projects at the next meeting. She also stated she had found that a lot of gyms charge $5.00 per user.

 

Councilwoman Stacey Cline asked about the gym and when the meeting/workshop was going to be held to discuss the gym issues. After some discussion is was decided to have a special meeting on the gym Monday, February 4th, 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. Councilwoman Margaret Moore stated she feels it was built for the citizens of Shepherdsville and they should have first opportunity to use. Councilwoman Faith Portman agreed.

 

Councilwoman Faith Portman asked about the clean up of

532 Old Highway
61 in Salt River. Code Enforcement Office McAuliffe stated he had checked the property and was going to contact the owner’s brother for help in getting cleaned up. Councilwoman Portman also asked Mr. McAuliffe to check the house behind Peoples Bank on Highway 44 for junk.  Councilwoman Portman reminded everyone about the Easter Egg Hunt on March 15th from 9:00-11:00 and pledged a $25.00 donation; challenging all other council members to do the same. 

 

Stacey Cline made motion to adjourn. Tony Miller 2nd. Motion carried 6-0. Meeting adjourned at 7:16 p.m.
