MINUTES REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING

MONDAY, MARCH 24, 2008

 

 

Pastor John Lehenbauer from Divine Savior Lutheran Church said the invocation.

 

The Pledge of Alliance to the flag was said

 

Mayor Tinnell called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

 

In attendance were Council members Stacey Cline, Bonnie Enlow, Tony Miller, Margaret Moore, Faith Portman, and Trina Summers.

 

Stacey Cline made the motion to dispense of the reading of the minutes from the March 10th, 2008 City Council meeting.  Faith Portman 2nd. Motion carried 6-0.  Tony Miller made the motion to approve the minutes as presented. Trina Summers 2nd.  Motion carried 6-0

 

Stacey Cline made the motion to dispense of the reading of the minutes from the March 14th, 2008 Special City Council meeting.  Tony Miller 2nd. Motion carried 6-0.  Trina Summers made the motion to approve the minutes as presented. Bonnie Enlow 2nd.  Motion carried 6-0

 

Mayor Tinnell presented a proclamation designating March 26th, 2008 as Networking Day in Shepherdsville.  Chief Doug Puckett introduced George Jetter, our newest police recruit who just completed his 21 weeks in Richmond and now is going to start 15 weeks of training here.

New Business:

City Attorney Bill Wilson read Resolution 008-003 Promoting Good Health for the citizens of Shepherdsville.  Motion to accept by Faith Portman, seconded by Stacey Cline.  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Motion was made by Stacey Cline to approve March bills as presented.  Seconded by Faith Portman.  Motion carried 6-0.

 

There were no sign in speakers.

 

Duane Price-Board of Adjustments reported that Joiner Drywall was approved for a conditional use permit of a 40 foot setback for one building only.  They are building a slab/metal mini warehouse.  He also reported that Rodney Hurst did not want to honor his original agreement to asphalt his road so his request has been withdrawn.

 

Attorney Wilson-Advised the council that they would need to call an executive session to discuss property acquisition.  He also suggested that we possibly have a special meeting on the 31st to discuss the stormwater ordinance.  He also advised the council that he just filed the transcripts from the Civil Service hearing on the Morris case with the courts.

 

John Bradley-interim public works director reported that they have taken inventory and now everyone has to sign out any equipment or tools that they use.  They are also working on the pavilion in the park and going thru out the city and replacing signs.

 

Tom Rosselli-ABC agent reported that Shoney’s has closed and will reopen as El Napol, who has applied for an alcohol license.

 

Ms. Moore reported that L&L Electric on Hwy 61 is still a mess. Jim McAulliffe said they had started cleaning up then stopped.  He said he would go back by and see what is going on.

 

Ms. Portman reported that she wanted to Thank Gayla Mattingly for a job well done on the Easter egg hunt. It was a great success despite the weather.  She also thanked Tom Rosselli, Mac and Stacey.

 

Ms. Cline reported she wanted to Thank Gayla Mattingly for a job well done on the Easter egg hunt.  She also as the police chief about the traffic guards at the schools.  She said that people do not see them and asked if we could possibly get the hand held blinking stop signs for them.

 

Attorney Bill Wilson also reported that he has been asked to present an Ordinance in regards to alcohol sales at golf courses.

 

Motion was made by Ms. Portman to go to executive session to discuss property acquisition.  Seconded by Ms. Cline.  Motion carried 6-0.  Adjourned to executive at 7:05 p.m.

 

Motion by Ms. Portman to reconvene at 7:36 p.m., Seconded by Ms. Cline Motion carried 6-0.  Attorney Bill Wilson stated that the Council advised him a direction to take on the issue discussed.

 

Motion to adjourn by Ms. Cline, Seconded by Ms. Summers.  Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:38 p.m.
