MINUTES REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING CITY OF SHEPHERDSVILLE 634 CONESTOGA PARKWAY SHEPHERDSVILLE, KY 40165 MONDAY, April 27, 2009
Officer Tim Wade said the invocation. The Pledge of Alliance to the flag was said Mayor Tinnell called the meeting to order at 6:32 p.m. In attendance were Council members Don Cundiff, Scott Ellis, Bonnie Enlow, Larry Hatfield, Tony Miller, and Alan Wetzel. Mr. Cundiff made the motion to dispense of the reading of the minutes from the April 13, 2009 City Council meeting. Ms. Enlow 2nd. Motion carried 6-0. Mr. Ellis made the motion to approve the minutes as presented. Mr. Wetzel 2nd. Motion carried 6-0. Mayor Tinnell announced that May 7th will be the National Day of Prayer and that there will be a ceremony at First Street Park. Old Business: None New Business: Motion to approve payment of bills for April by Mr. Cundiff. Mr. Hatfield 2nd. Motion carried 6-0. Sign-in Speakers: David Strange made a presentation to the Mayor and Council about the 1917 train wreck in Shepherdsville. He is going to order a Historical Marker and have it placed at the site. The cost is about $1000 and the library is going to pay for the marker. Planning & zoning update- None Board of Adjustment update- None Council reports: Ms. Enlow reported that she thinks the city needs to consider passing an ordinance in regards to a leash law. She experienced several dogs in the park over the weekend that were just running loose. She also would like to see the plans on the project that Mr. Givan started on Salt Well Road. Junior said he will try to locate the plans. Departmental Reports: Chief Puckett said they are having a preliminary inspection this week for the accreditation process. The final inspection is scheduled for May. Accreditation allows a 10% insurance discount. Jim McAulliffe passed out forms to the Council members for any complaints they receive. He also presented them with pictures of the two houses that have been demolished to date and information on the ones he is currently working on. Motion by Ms. Enlow at 6:50 p.m. to go to executive session to discuss property acquisition and a personnel issue. Mr. Ellis 2nd. Motion carried 6-0. Motion to reconvene by Ms. Enlow at 8:35 p.m. Mr. Hatfield 2nd. Motion carried 6-0. Attorney Bill Wilson read the following statement: Mayor Tinnell and the Shepherdsville City Council are pleased to announce the South Bullitt Regional Interceptor Project. This innovative public/private partnership will provide for an expansion of the wastewater treatment facilities for the City of Shepherdsville to meet future growth opportunities and to ensure compliance with federal and state environmental regulations. We believe this agreement is a major step forward for the community and we applaud the efforts of our state and local officials in bringing this worthy project to a reality. Over the next year the citizens of Shepherdsville will witness advances in our roadways, sewer systems and parks that will improve our quality of life and continue to make Shepherdsville a great place to live. He also thanked Larry Belcher, Linda Belcher, Lou Ann Moore, Eric Farris, Jim Noe, Jerry Summers, Jim Rice, Council members, Larry Hatfield and Alan Wetzel for their dedication to this project. Jim Noe-Beam Global said congratulations to the City and Beam Global and is pleased to be working with the City on this project. Jim Rice-Salt River Development thanked the City for working so hard to make this work. He thanked Linda Belcher for securing the additional funding and feels this is a great thing for both the City and County. Linda Belcher said when she presented this project to the governor he said he would do what he could to see this project completed. She thanked Larry and Alan for their hard work. Lou Anne Moore said thanks for letting her be a part of this project. Attorney Bill Wilson also said the discussed a personnel issue while in executive session and no decision was made. Motion to adjourn at by Mr. Ellis, Mr. Wetzel 2nd. Motion carried 6-0.
