MINUTES REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING CITY OF SHEPHERDSVILLE 634 CONESTOGA PARKWAY SHEPHERDSVILLE, KY 40165 MONDAY, May 11, 2009
Pastor Randy Pace from the Family Worship Center said the invocation. The Pledge of Alliance to the flag was said. Mayor Tinnell called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. In attendance were Council members Don Cundiff, Scott Ellis, Bonnie Enlow, Larry Hatfield, Tony Miller, and Alan Wetzel. Mr. Cundiff made the motion to dispense of the reading of the minutes from the April 27, 2009 City Council meeting. Mr. Hatfield 2nd. Motion carried 6-0. Mr. Ellis made the motion to approve the minutes as presented. Mr. Wetzel 2nd. Motion carried 6-0. Mr. Wetzel made the motion to dispense of the reading of the minutes from the May 5, 2009 Special City Council meeting. Mr. Ellis 2nd. Motion carried 6-0. Ms. Enlow made the motion to approve the minutes as presented. Mr. Wetzel 2nd. Motion carried 6-0. Mayor Tinnell announced that May 25th will be the Memorial Day holiday therefore the regular city council meeting will be canceled. The next regular scheduled meeting will be June 8th, 2009. Dawn Erckenbrack, the new President/CEO for Jewish Medical Center South introduced herself. She was previously the CEO for Ireland Army Hospital. She has retired from the Army after 22 years of service. She welcomed everyone to come visit the facility. Old Business: None New Business: Attorney Bill Wilson read Resolution 009-005 accepting the KIA Grant in the amount of $ 1,000,000. Motion to accept by Mr. Hatfield. Mr. Cundiff 2nd. Motion carried 6-0. Attorney Bill Wilson read Summary Ordinance 009-765-Repealing prior Civil Service Ordinance and establishing a new one. Attorney Bill Wilson read Ordinance 009-766-rezoning 5.8 acres at the corner of Hensley Road and Hwy 44 West for Miles Homes, LLC from B-1 Highway Business to R-3 Residential. Attorney Bill Wilson read Ordinance 009-767-closing a portion of an unimproved alley. Attorney Bill Wilson read Ordinance 009-768-closing a portion of an unimproved alley formerly known as North Street.. Sign-in Speakers: Steven Wood from Beechcliff Circle said that Lot 18,19 & 20 are having a problem with erosion in the drainage ditch behind these properties. The Mayor said that he and the public works director will look at the problem the next day. Timothy Wise from the Salt River area said he has been to the council several times in the last six years about an abandoned property next door to him. Attorney Bill Wilson explained to him that the city had just passed a nuisance ordinance and that he would have Mac look at it. Mr. Wise also said they need to look at 5th Avenue because there is a problem there with junk vehicles. Planning & zoning update- None Board of Adjustment update- None Council reports: Mr. Hatfield reported that he thinks the city needs to consider reopening Salt River Plant Road, even if it is just south-bound. Ms. Enlow said she agrees this needs to be looked into. Departmental Reports: -None Motion at 7:20 p.m. to go to executive session to discuss litigation, personnel and property acquisition by Mr. Cundiff. Mr. Hatfield 2nd. Motion carried 6-0. Motion to reconvene by Mr. Wetzel at 9:22 p.m. Mr. Ellis 2nd. Motion carried 6-0. Attorney Bill Wilson said they did discuss personnel, litigation and property acquisition while in executive session, however no decisions were made. But there will be a Special meeting Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 5 p.m. to discuss personnel. Motion to adjourn at by Mr. Ellis, Mr. Cundiff 2nd. Motion carried 6-0.
