MINUTES REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING CITY OF SHEPHERDSVILLE 634 CONESTOGA PARKWAY SHEPHERDSVILLE, KY 40165 MONDAY, July 13, 2009
Office Tim Wade said the invocation. The Pledge of Alliance to the flag was said. Mayor Tinnell called the meeting to order at 6:32 p.m. In attendance were Council members Don Cundiff, Bonnie Enlow, Larry Hatfield, Tony Miller and Alan Wetzel. Scott Ellis was absent. Mr. Hatfield made the motion to dispense of the reading of the minutes from the June 22, 2009 City Council meeting. Mr. Wetzel 2nd. Motion carried 5-0. Mr. Hatfield made the motion to approve the minutes as presented. Mr. Cundiff 2nd. Motion carried 5-0. Old Business: City Clerk, Maxine Jeffries read the second reading of Ordinance 009-771-Rezoning of 984 Old Preston Highway. Joe Hurst from the Congregation of Jehovah Witness Church spoke in favor of the zoning but felt that there should be some restrictions to go along with the re-zoning. The property owners were not present and after some discussion there was a motion to table the ordinance until the July 27th meeting to where the property owner can be present by Mr. Wetzel. Mr. Cundiff 2nd. Motion carried 5-0. New Business: After discussion of the monthly bills, Mr. Hatfield made the motion to approve the bills as presented, Ms. Enlow 2nd . Motion carried 5-0. A parade permit was presented by Back in time wagon train for August 16-9am until 9:30 am. Motion to approve by Mr. Cundiff, 2nd by Mr. Wetzel. Motion carried 5-0. Another parade permit was presented by the 5kwalk for life for September 19 from 9 am until noon. Motion to approve by Ms. Enlow, 2nd by Mr. Wetzel. Motion carried 5-0. Sign-in Speakers: Mr. Pettell from Days Inn made a presentation to the council about an area he needs an encroachment permit to add another drive into the hotel. The Mayor told him he would meet with him and take a look at it the next day. Judge Roberts presented the City Council on information about what is needed to re-open the Bullitt Central pool. She had estimates and asked the council to pay $ 2,446 toward the reconstruction of the pool. Mr. Cundiff said he knows kids need things like this to do in the summer and thinks the City should help out. Judge Roberts said they just finished the Mount Washington pool and the City of Mount Washington helped out. Motion to pay $ 2,446 towards the repairs by Ms. Enlow, 2nd Mr. Cundiff. Motion carried 5-0. Planning & zoning update- none
Board of Adjustment update- Duane Price Duane Price said they just did a conditional use permit for a daycare in the industrial park that will employee about 40 employees. He said they also had a variance on a sign for the Snappy Tomato Pizza. Departmental reports: Chief Puckett stated that their accreditation was approved on July 7th. This will give us a 10% discount on our police liability insurance. Jim McAulliffe stated he has found a grant that we could possibly get federal funds to assists us on the foreclosures we have in the City. He also stated that the property located at 240 6th Ave. belongs to Mt. Washington Peoples Bank. He has talked to the bank about the demolition of the property, the bank has agreed to give the property to the city thru a quit-claim deed. Council reports: Mr. Miller reminded everyone that there will be a meeting in Mt. Washington about Hwy 44 on July 14th. Mr. Cundiff stated that he is getting several complaints about barking dogs. He feels we need to consider doing an ordinance on that. He also would like the council to take a look at our burning ordinance and consider a yard sale ordinance. He has also gotten complaints about the condition of Haley Avenue. The Mayor responded that the City has not yet taken over Haley Avenue. Motion to adjourn at by Mr. Wetzel, Mr. Hatfield 2nd.
