MINUTES REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING CITY OF SHEPHERDSVILLE, MONDAY, April 12, 2010 Police officer Mike Miller said the invocation. The Pledge of Alliance to the flag was said. Mayor Tinnell called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. In attendance were Council members Don Cundiff, Scott Ellis, Larry Hatfield, Tony Miller and Alan Wetzel. Ms. Enlow was absent. Mr. Cundiff made the motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes from the March 22, 2010 City Council meeting. Mr. Alan Wetzel 2nd. Motion carried 5-0. Mr. Ellis made the motion to approve the minutes as presented Mr. Wetzel 2nd. Motion carried 5-0. Mayor Tinnell stated that the City will be dedicating “Joe B. Hall Avenue” on Friday, April 16, 2010 at City Hall. Everyone is invited. He also stated that they are in the process of securing more private funding for the Park project and asked everyone to go to the park and see the progress that has been made. He also announced that the new sewer plant is expected to be completed by July 1, 2010. He also asked everyone to get with Tammy about Relay for Life which is May 14. Old Business: None. New Business: June Daugherty-YMCA advised the Council that May 9th – 15th is Women’s Health Week. She is requesting a proclamation from the City. There will also be a Men’s Health Week in June. She is requesting help with security and traffic from the city. Mayor Tinnell suggested she get with Chief Puckett. She also reported that the pool work is progressing and that they should be pouring the concrete on Thursday. Planning & Zoning update- Daryl Lee: There is a case coming up on Bluelick Road and Bryant. They are asking to be rezoned from R1 to R3. Board of Adjustment update- Duane Price: presented the Council with a list of six new cases that have been presented to the County. He also reminded the Mayor and Council that he is due to be re-appointed in July and wanted everyone to consider him for the position. Departmental reports: Jr. Bright reported he took core samples of Park Loop Road He said the samples indicated that the road was better than the requirements that have been set. The Mayor stated that maybe we should require bonding. The Council wants to look at the road before they agree to take it over. Chief Puckett brought in REMCO the new drug dog and introduced him and Officer Kenny Waters who is the trained handler for the dog. He also stated the Louisville Metro is going to donate another dog to the city. Chuck Keith stated that Chris Brown with the Boy Scouts has a scout doing a project in the park and is in the need of 6 yards of concrete. Mr. Wetzel is going to see what he can do to get some donated. Mr. Keith also stated that the road on Dustin Way is in very bad shape. One of the residents on Dustin Way is continually running water from under his house onto the road. He also stated that the drainage ditch there needs to be dredged. Mr. Hatfield commented that the work needed to be completed prior to the winter. Council reports: Mr. Hatfield asked State Representative Linda Belcher if she has any idea if the requested funding for the sewer project was still in the State Budget. She said no that all funding for special projects has been stripped from the budget, however they will be called to come back for special session later this month and perhaps they will be reinstated at that time. Motion by Mr. Cundiff to adjourn to executive session to discuss personnel and litigation at 7:02 p.m. Mr. Ellis 2nd. Motion carried. 5-0. Motion by Mr. Ellis to reconvene at 8:05 p.m. Mr. Wetzel 2nd. Motion carried. 5-0. Attorney Bill Wilson stated the council discussed litigation and personnel and he was given directions on how to proceed but no decision was made. Motion to adjourn by Mr. Ellis, Mr. Cundiff 2nd .
