MINUTES REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING

CITY OF SHEPHERDSVILLE,

MONDAY, August 9th 2010

Councilmember Tim Wade said the invocation.

The Pledge of Alliance to the flag was said.

Mayor Tinnell called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

In attendance were Council members Don Cundiff, Scott Ellis, Bonnie Enlow, Larry Hatfield, Tony Miller and Alan Wetzel.

Mr. Ellis made the motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes from the July 26, 2010 City Council meeting.  Mr. Hatfield 2nd.  Motion carried 5-0. (Mr. Wetzel had not yet arrived) Mr. Cundiff made the motion to approve the minutes as presented.  Mr. Ellis 2nd the motion.  Motion carried 6-0.

Old Business: None

New Business:

Motion by Mr. Hatfield to approve payment of bills for July.  Mr. Wetzel 2nd .  Motion carried 6-0.

Resolution 010-004 Approving the sale/auction of surplus police vehicles. Motion to approved by Ms. Enlow.  Mr. Ellis 2nd.  Motion carried 5-1.  Mr. Hatfield opposed.

Attorney Bill Wilson read the first reading of Ordinance 010-789 to approve the annexation of the Smith property located at 1266 W. Bluelick Road.

Sign-in Speakers:

Mr. Ralph Brothers of West Peaceful Way asked the council if they would consider selling him the property the city owns next to Zappos on Highway 280.  The property was suppose to be turned into a park.  Bill Wilson said he would research it and see what the City can do with the property.  The property was donated to the City by Flynn Brothers.

Mr. Raymond of 464 Ridgeview Dr.  asked the Council members if they had looked at the drainage issue he brought up at the last meeting.  Mr. Cundiff said he had looked at it and feels that it would be quite expensive to fix and asked if the City caused the problem.  Mr. Raymond said they had.  The other council members are going to look at it prior to the next meeting.

Ms. Sandy Larimore with Bullitt County Homemakers advised the council about October 10, 2010 at First Street Park there will be “2nd Sunday”.  The purpose of the event is to get people from the community to get out and exercise with their family.  You can run, bike or walk the event.  There will be other activities also.  It is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.

Planning & Zoning update- Daryl Lee: None

Board of Adjustment update- Duane Price: None

Departmental reports:

John Bradley stated that he is making very good progress on mapping the sewers and manholes.

Council reports:  None

Mr. Steve Larimore stated that he works for Bullitt County Parks and that he had been trying to find out who owned the property that Mr. Brothers had mentioned.  He would like to talk to Fiscal Court about possibly partnering with the City to turn that property into a park.  He will report at the next meeting.

Motion to adjourn by Mr. Ellis, Mr. Wetzel 2nd.   Motion carried 6-0.  Meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m
