MINUTES REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING

CITY OF SHEPHERDSVILLE,

MONDAY, September 27, 2010

Councilmember Tony Miller said the invocation.

The Pledge of Alliance to the flag was said.

Mayor Tinnell called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

In attendance were Council members Don Cundiff, Scott Ellis, Bonnie Enlow, Larry Hatfield, Tony Miller and Alan Wetzel.

Mr. Cundiff made the motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes from the September 13, 2010 City Council meeting.  Mr. Hatfield 2nd.  Motion carried 5-0. (Mr. Wetzel had not yet arrived) Mr. Ellis made the motion to approve the minutes as presented.    Mr. Hatfield 2nd the motion.  Motion carried 5-0.

Mayor Tinnell announced that he has received an additional $ 28,000 donation for the Park project.  He has received over $ 200,000 in donations to date.

Old Business:

Property tax Ordinances had to be read again due to the media not getting proper notification on the September 1, 2010 Special meeting.

Second reading of Ordinance 010-790 to set Real Property Tax rate.  Mr. Hatfield made a motion to approve.  Mr. Wetzel 2nd.     Motion carried 6-0.

Second reading of Ordinance 010-791 to set Personal Property Tax rate.  Ms. Enlow made a motion to approve.  Mr. Ellis 2nd.     Motion carried 6-0.

New Business:

Motion to approve payment of bills for September by Mr. Hatfield with the exception of Carriage Ford for the Public works department.  Ms. Enlow 2nd.  Motion carried 6-0.

Sign-in Speakers

Depp Rasner-Wanted to thank the City for the help with the painting of the underpass.  He said the artists will be starting on the murals on October 18 and will take approximate 12 hours.  He will need assistance on getting the street closed until it is complete.

Planning & Zoning update- Daryl Lee: None

Board of Adjustment update- Duane Price:  None

Departmental reports:  None

Council reports: 

Don Cundiff said the Welcome to Shepherdsville sign on Hwy 61 is faded and looking bad.  He asked someone to check to see what needs to be done to repair or replace it.

Bonnie Enlow stated she had a citizen call her and complain about the number and size of the campaign signs that are out.

Larry Hatfield asked if the Fire Department could move some equipment out of Frank E Simon station so they could use it as storage of items for the new sewer plant.  Brad Whitaker said he would check.

Motion to adjourn to executive session at 6:45 p.m. to discuss a personnel issue by Mr. Miller.  Mr. Wetzel 2nd.  Motion carried 6-0.

Motion to reconvene at 7:05 pm by Mr. Ellis.  Ms. Enlow 2nd.  Motion carried 6-0. 

Jennifer Barbagallo reported the council discussed a personnel issue and that no decisions were made. 

Motion to adjourn by Mr. Ellis. 2nd.   Mr. Cundiff 2nd. Motion carried 6-0 Meeting adjourned at 7:06 p.m.
