Mayor Sohm welcomed and thanked everyone for attending the meeting.

 

Pastor Randy Pace, Family Worship Center gave the invocation.

 

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was said.

 

Mayor Sohm called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m.

 

In attendance were Council members Stacey Cline, Tony Miller, Margaret Moore, Faith Portman, and Alan Wetzel.

 

Stacey Cline made motion to dispense with reading of 10/23/2006 meeting minutes. Alan Wetzel 2nd. Motion carried 5-0.

 

Tony Miller made motion to approve minutes as printed. Stacey Cline 2nd. Motion carried 5-0.

 

Mayor Sohm introduced Don Renn, Shepherdsville’s first paid fire chief. City Attorney Joe Wantland swore Chief Renn in.

 

Mayor Sohm thanked everyone involved with the ribbon cutting ceremony and building dedication of the new Shepherdsville Government Center. He stated it was a tremendous success and very will attended.

 

There was no report from the Historical Committee.

 

Mayor Sohm reported from the Transportation/Beautification Committee that paving is going on throughout the City.

 

Mayor Sohm reported from the Transportation/Beautification Committee that 90% of the paving is complete in the City. And that he had attended another meeting on beautifying the exit ramps in the County. After this phase is complete plans are to work on state road beautification.

 

There was no report from the Recreation Committee.

 

There was no report from the Sewer Committee.

 

Discussion followed on request from Richard Miles to take over street in

Miles Place
. City Engineer Toby Spalding reported they had been proof rolled and passed inspection. Tony Miller made motion to accept
Miles Place
into the City’s maintenance program. Stacey Cline 2nd. Motion carried 6-0.

 

Discussion followed on placing the Mayor’s phone on surplus and allowing him to keep it after he leaves office. Tony Miller made motion to allow Mayor Sohm to keep his Nextel phone and number. Alan Wetzel 2nd. Motion carried 5-0.

 

Discussion followed on taking over St. Andrew Pump Station on Highway 44 East. This pump station will service St. Andrews Crossing subdivision. Faith Portman made motion to take over pump station. Margaret Moore 2nd. Motion carried 5-0.

 

Board of Adjustments Appointee Duane Price reported there was one case concerning Shepherdsville. Johnson & Johnson requested a variance on parking spaces. Mr. Price also reported that Evelyn Fackler is working on standardizing regulations on parking spaces.

 

Fire Chief Don Renn stated that his experience with the City thus far has been very positive.

 

City Engineer Toby Spalding reported that he had met with the Drainage Committee and came up with a set of guidelines for reporting drainage problems and the steps followed to alleviate the drainage problem. He asked the Council to look it over and get back with him if they wanted any additions or changes. City Engineer Spalding also reported that by the next meeting he would have revisions to Ordinance 004-616 an Ordinance relating to the issuance of residential building permits in new subdivisions in the City of Shepherdsville.

 

Planning Commission Appointee Ben Robards reported that was one rezoning case for Shepherdsville. Bob Elkins and Virginia Elkins requested a zoning change from R-2 Residential to R-3 Residential for 2.86 acres, more or less, located at

309 Old Ford Road
. He stated this request received a favorable recommendation from the Planning Commission. Mr. Robards also reported that a Text Amendment requested by Grand Oaks Estates LLC received a favorable recommendation in regard to side yards setbacks.

 

Councilwoman Stacey Cline asked City Engineer Toby Spalding about the paving at Shawnee Acres. City Engineer Spalding reported that the City has applied for grant funds do pave this subdivision at no cost to the homeowners but we have not heard back from the State yet.

 

Councilwoman Faith Portman thanked all City Employees who works on the ribbon cutting ceremony.

 

Councilwoman Margaret Moore asked to adjourn to executive session to discuss personnel.

 

City Attorney Joe Wantland stated he has received great cooperation from the clerks in collecting money due the City for clean up projects. He reported we have collected several thousand dollars.

 

Mayor Sohm asked for a motion to adjourn to executive session to discuss litigation and personnel. Tony Miller made motion. Margaret Moore 2nd. Motion carried 5-0.

 

Alan Wetzel made motion to return to regular session. Faith Portman 2nd. Motion carried 5-0. City Attorney Wantland stated the Council had given instructions to the Mayor to follow up on some items and he will do so.  

 

Alan Wetzel made motion to adjourn. Tony Miller 2nd. Motion carried 5-0. Meeting adjourned at 8:29 p.m.
