City Administration
The City of Shepherdsville’s Administration Department plays a crucial role in the effective management of the city. The department is responsible for keeping and maintaining official city records, issuing permits, floodplain management, collecting Occupational and Insurance Taxes, and providing top notch service to the citizens.
One of the key individuals with the Administrative Department is the City Clerk. The City Clerk holds a significant position in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the department and ensuring that all administrative functions run smoothly and efficiently. The City Clerk also prepares the agenda for the City Council Meetings and is the official record keeper. They coordinate with other city officials and government entities to ensure all necessary documents and materials are available for the meetings.
The Finance Department serves a fundamental role in managing a $25 million operating budget for the general fund and an $8 million operating budget for the wastewater fund. The finance team consists of four individuals with assistance from other office staff. The positions are accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, financial management and reporting. The City of Shepherdsville in 2023/2024 completed a bond issuance of $30M and will replace both the accounting system and the Occupational tax and licensing system. The new systems will allow us to automate some functions along with providing our customers with an online payment process. The finance team works directly with the Mayor, Council and all departments.
Overall, the City of Shepherdsville’s Administration Department, led by the City Clerk, plays a vital role in the effective operation of the city. Their mission is to provide the best customer service possible for the citizens and to ensure the city’s records are kept accurately and securely.
